New Car: 2013 Rolls-Royce Ghost One Thousand and One Nights

It’s getting difficult to keep track of all the Rolls-Royce special-edition models, but we have one more to add to the list: the Rolls-Royce One Thousand and One Nights Bespoke Ghost Collection. Created to increase interest in the cars for markets in the Middle East, the special Rolls-Royce Ghosts have distinctive two-tone paint that’s said to be inspired by the stories of “The Arabian Nights.”

There’s more to the limited-production Rolls-Royce Ghosts than the unique paint, but that’s a good place to start. The car pictured here shows just one of three special paint schemes. The first one, or chapter one, will officially debut at the Sharjah International Auto Show at the end of this month; chapters two and three will be unveiled in the first and third quarter of next year.
Just below the tan-painted C-pillar are the Arabic words, “One Thousand and One Nights,” and white-painted designs appear beside the door handles and just below the A-pillars. The special-edition Ghost’s powertrain appears to be untouched, which means a 6.6-liter twin-turbo V-12 making 563 hp sits under the hood, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. In our 2010 Rolls-Royce Ghost First Test, the big four-door accelerated from 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds and completed the quarter mile in 12.7 seconds at 112.9 mph. Don’t count on any of the three Ghost special-editions to ever come to the U.S., but we’re sure Rolls-Royce would have no problem preparing a car with a similar color scheme considering 44,000 paint options are available. For the 2013 model year, the Ghost’s sound system has been updated and owners can open the trunk by waving their foot underneath the rear bumper.
