Unofficial Picture: 2013 Lexus LS460 F Sport

The 2013 Lexus LS will get its official reveal online in four days, but a leak-happy Chinese car blog apparently gave us an early preview of the upcoming luxury sedan.

Lexus has gone so far as to post a countdown on its Facebook page that’s ticking the seconds, minutes, and hours until it posts the first official photos of the car on July 30th. But it looks like Lexus was beaten to its own punch by a Chinese blog, which posted two photos of the car sometime last night. The car wears the same spindle grille as every other recently redesigned Lexus product (including the GX, the RX, and GS), LED running lights shaped in opposing capital Ls, and some aggressive, black or dark grey wheels. Out back, the previous LS’ taillights were stretched further into the trunklid, and it looks like the housings are now filled with LEDs shaped like — yes, you guessed it — opposing capital Ls.

We wouldn’t be surprised if some of the exterior décor and details are restricted to the new LS F Sport model – judging by the promotional license plate bolted to the trunk lid, this is our first look at the long-rumored F Sport model. It’s unclear exactly what engine is underhood–the low-res photo has a poor view of the car’s badging–but we’ve predicted that the F Sport model will be based on the standard LS 460, which uses a 4.6-liter V-8 producing about 380 hp and 367 lb-ft. We’ve also reported that the LS 460 L long-wheelbase and LS 600 h L long-wheelbase hybrid models will continue with the new model.

Is this the real thing? It certainly looks like the prototypes we caught undergoing validation testing earlier this year. Lexus officials all but confirmed the authenticity of the shots Thursday morning, asking us if we were inquiring about the “LS photos that leaked.” All signs suggest this is the 2013 LS F Sport, but even so, Lexus won’t release any more information or photos until the official debut.
