Spied: 2014 Rolls-Ryoce Ghost Coupe

Rolls-Royce appears to be bored with luxury and opulence. Recently spotted on the Nurburgring, this Rolls-Royce coupe prototype solidifies rumors that the automaker is interested in making a high-performance variant for customers looking for an engaging drive rather than just a comfortable interior.

The following photos show a large and low-riding coupe with Rolls-Royce styling cues. First is the upright and blunt front clip with its rectangular grille. Next is the back end, which reveals trapezoidal taillights and exhaust tips similar to those used on the Ghost. There’s lots of deceptive camouflage around the  rear quarter windows and door handles, likely in an attempt to conceal what could be suicide-style doors with a smaller rear door (a la Mazda RX-8) or a conventional door.
Power could come from a turbocharged 12-cylinder engine producing about 600 hp. It will likely be a revised version of the Ghost’s 6.6-liter V-12, which currently puts out 563 hp and 575 lb-ft of torque. Should this coupe make it to production, its main competitor would be the 2013 Bentley Continental GT Speed, which produces 616 hp and 590 lb-ft from a 6.0-liter W-12 engine. We could see a concept version of the new Rolls-Royce coupe as soon as the upcoming 2013 Geneva Motor Show next March.
